Toy Story 5 is continuing to show strength at the box office. This weekend, it took the top spot in theaters once again and overpowered Supergirl’s opening weekend. On Friday alone, Toy Story 5 took in $21.5 million and will take a total of $70 million over the course of the weekend. This contrasts with Supergirl’s disappointing $38 million. Domestically, the newest Toy Story movie has earned $297 million. Globally, it is now up to $585 million. The film is well on its way to crossing the $1 billion mark.
This newest Pixar film will see some headwinds in the future. Minions & Monsters is arriving in theaters on July 1, 2026. This will undoubtedly create some headwinds for Pixar moving forward. However, with the momentum it already has, there are many reasons for Disney and Pixar to be happy. It could also see continued Taylor Swift headlines helping to boost the film. Taylor Swift provided a song for the film.
