Season 3 of Behind the Attraction has debuted on Disney+. Two new episodes of the series focus on the Disney Cruise Line! This two-episode special event looks at the storytelling, innovation, and immersive experiences that have redefined vacations at sea in a way that only Disney can.
The first episode looks into the story of the Disney Cruise Line. This starts with its origins and moves through the years to where things are now as the fleet continues to expand. It explores how Disney reimagined the classic ocean-liner experience through the Disney difference. This includes Disney’s signature service, attention to detail, and storytelling that is found in every element of a voyage. This will include hearing the stories of the beginning of the Disney Cruise Line from people who were there. This includes former Imagineer and Disney Legend Wing Chao, who led the design of the first Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. The episode will also look into the engineering marvel of how Disney cruise ships are built from stem to stern.
The second episode focuses on one of the newest ships in the fleet, the Disney Destiny. This ship is inspired by the timeless dynamic found between heroes and villains. This is a new thematic direction for the Disney Cruise Line. The Disney Destiny sees design and adventure come together in completely new ways. This episode will look at the early concepts and Imagineering innovation through the creation of some incredible guest experiences, as it shares how this ship came to life.
Executive Producer and director Brian Volk-Weiss, Founder and CEO of The Nacelle Company, said about the experience of making Behind the Attraction, “It has been the honor and utter joy of my career to work with Disney on Behind the Attraction. To be given the trust of Disney Cruise Line to tell their incredible story in season 3, alongside the brilliant imagineers and crew, has been beyond anything I could have expected in this blessed career. As someone who’s been going to Disney parks since I was 3, sailing the seas on some of the greatest cruise ships on the planet, from the Disney Magic to the Disney Destiny, has been as exciting as the pure bliss we feel adding another chapter to the Behind the Attraction universe of stories.”
Executive Producer of the series and co-Founder and co-CEO of Seven Bucks Productions, Dany Garcia, also shared, “Disney has always understood that storytelling becomes even more magical when people are invited into its universe for an experience, and Disney Cruise Line is a remarkable example of that vision. As producers, we were drawn to the incredible ingenuity and design that transformed an idea into a defining fleet. Some of my family’s most meaningful memories were created aboard Disney cruises, and this season shines a light on the innovation and craftsmanship that have made those moments possible for families across generations.”
The 2-episode special of Behind the Attraction shares about the Disney Cruise Line through the lenses of Imagineers, crew members, and cast members’ experiences. Fun facts are also shared. It provides an upbeat and magical way to learn more about the most magical ships at sea!
