Toy Story 5

3 Versions of Taylor Swift’s ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for ‘Toy Story 5’ Now Available

It has been a very big week for Taylor Swift and Pixar fans. Ahead of the arrival of Toy Story 5, a campaign began to tease Taylor Swift’s involvement in the film. Ultimately, it was revealed that Taylor Swift wrote and recorded a song for the film. The song is called I Knew It, I Knew You. How exactly it fits into the film hasn’t been revealed yet. What is known, however, is that fans are quite excited about this collaboration between Swift and Pixar.

Initially, one version of the song was released. This was quickly followed by a music video for this recording. This version of the song can be heard here:

After the initial release on Friday, two more versions of the song were released today for digital download. These give versions that are accompanied by a piano and acoustic guitar. Both of these can be purchased on Taylor Swift’s website. Each song is 99 cents.

Toy Story 5 director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton said, “It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”

Taylor Swift has worked with Disney before. She has multiple programs currently streaming on Disney+, including her most recent tour and a documentary about the end of it. Here is what can currently be found on Disney+ that features Swift:

  • Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)
  • Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show
  • Taylor Swift: The End of an Era
  • folklore: the long pond studio sessions

To help promote her final concert film and documentary, some of her concert costumes were also put on display in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Following the release of her album The Tortured Poets Department, Pixar released its own artistic renditions of some of her lyrics with Pixar characters. This followed the Emoryville-based animation studios doing the same for the release of her Midnights album.
