Wishes and Timelines at Disneyland Resort

Welcome back to another episode of Daps Magic – Disney and Positive Stuff. It has been a fantastic week defined by “Disney and positive stuff,” where stories of heart, hope, and history have come together to remind us why we love this community. From life-changing wishes to a galaxy that just got a whole lot bigger, there is plenty of good news to cover.

Wishes Assemble: Celebrating 45 Years of Magic

This week marked a monumental milestone in the partnership between Disney and Make-A-Wish, a relationship that dates back 45 years to the very first wish ever granted. On April 29th—World Wish Day—Disney California Adventure hosted the Wishes Assemble event.

  • A Heroic Experience: Nearly 40 Make-A-Wish kids and their families were treated to an Avengers recruitment experience throughout the day.
  • The Power of Possibility: These events are about more than just fun; they help children battling critical illnesses shift from a “what if” mindset of uncertainty to a “what is possible” mindset of hope.
  • Star-Studded Support: Superheroes like Anthony Mackie and Paul Bettany showed up to inspire the kids, with Mackie even joining nine-year-old Cohen for a ride on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!.
  • Top Creators Join In: Popular creators including MrBeast, Mark Rober, and Dude Perfect were on hand to conduct scientific experiments and engage with families, showing that science can be just as magical as any story.

This commitment to children’s health is a legacy that spans generations, from Walt Disney’s founding of local children’s health organizations to Bob Iger, who was recently honored with the inaugural Wishmaker Lifetime Achievement Award for overseeing more than 110,000 wishes during his tenure.

A Fundamental Shift in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

While the world was focused on wishes, the Force was also making major moves. Ahead of Star Wars Day, a substantial timeline expansion officially took effect at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on April 29th.

Breaking the Barrier of Time

For years, the land was tied specifically to the era of the First Order and the Resistance. That barrier has now been broken, allowing icons from the original trilogy to join the story:

  • Vader’s Arrival: Darth Vader now appears at Black Spire Outpost with Stormtroopers, searching for Luke Skywalker.
  • The Original Trio: Guests can now encounter Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia roaming near the Millennium Falcon.
  • Musical Immersion: One of the most emotional changes is the addition of John Williams’ iconic film scores throughout the land. Hearing “Leia’s Theme” while the Princess is standing right in front of you adds a layer of depth that makes you feel like you’ve stepped directly into the movies.

Accessibility for Every Generation

This change makes the land more accessible to the general populace. Whether you’ve been a fan since 1977 or you just started watching the newest shows on Disney+, there is now a connection point for every generation of fan to enjoy together.

The Ripple Effect of Positivity

As we look back on the 10,000 wish kits put together by Disney volunteers and the excitement of new stories in the park, it all comes down to one philosophy: “If you’re not having fun, you’re done”.

Fandom and life should be about making things better. There is enough weight in the world already; our time and energy should be spent adding to the possibilities and the joy. When we support one another—one wish, one dollar, or one kind word at a time—we make the future a little bit more vibrant for everyone.
