On Friday, May 1st, the Monorail returned to the skies over Disneyland. This comes after a refurbishment this spring. On Friday morning, Monorail Blue and Monorail Orange could be seen traveling on the “highway in the sky.” Seeing that it was a fairly gray morning, the colors of the two Monorail trains added some color to the skies.
Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by Disneyland on Friday morning. While there, he took a ride aboard both Monorail Blue and Monorail Orange. He also took photos and videos, some of which can be found below. Take a look below!

The Monorail opened at Disneyland on June 14, 1959. At the time, it would circle from Disneyland. The original Mark I trains (Red and Blue) included three cars. Today’s version has five cars. Vice President Richard Nixon was on hand for the dedication ceremony. The Monorail trains at the Disneyland Resort today are Mark VII. They first began transporting guests at the Disneyland Resort in 2008.
The Monorail originally circled the sky in Disneyland. Then, in 1961 it was expanded and stopped at a station at the Disneyland Hotel. Now, the Disneyland Hotel station is the Downtown Disney District station. The Monorail continues to be a fan-favorite that is both a form of transportation and an entertaining ride. It also adds to the magic of Disneyland with its addition of kinetic energy to the skies over the Disneyland Resort.
