‘Star Wars’ Voice Actor Tom Kane Passes Away at 64

Voice actor Tom Kane has passed away at the age of 64. The prolific voice actor brought many animated characters to life throughout the worlds of Star Wars, Powerpuff Girls, the Marvel Universe, Call of Duty, Disney, and a whole lot more. His talent agency, Galactic Productions, announced that Kane died on Monday with the following Facebook post:

Today we say goodbye to Tom Kane — a legendary voice actor whose work shaped the childhoods and imaginations of millions around the world.

From his unforgettable performances in Star Wars to countless animated series, documentaries, and games, Tom brought wisdom, strength, humor, and heart to every role he touched. His voice became part of our lives, our memories, and the stories we carry with us.

But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man. Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children — three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering. That compassion and generosity defined who he was just as much as his remarkable talent did.

Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever.

Rest in peace, Tom Kane. Thank you for everything.

May the Force be with you, always.

Throughout the seven seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Kane provided the voice of Yoda, the narrator, and Admiral Yularen. The series premiered in 2008 and continued until it aired its final season in 2020. His voice could also be heard in video games and even Star Wars movies, including Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, in which he voiced Admiral Ackbar.

Kane’s voice can also be heard in countless other projects throughout Disney, Star Wars, and beyond. He voiced countless characters, commercials, attractions, shows, and voice doubles throughout his career that spanned nearly five decades. This career was cut short after a stroke forced him to retire in 2021.

Here is Tom Kane’s official bio from his website:

Tom started doing voiceovers at age 15. By 24, he had recorded hundreds of commercials and was regularly landing National TV spots.

His tremendous vocal range has led to a very busy career. Every week, he records Movie Trailers, Cartoons, Commercials, Games, Network Promos, Corporate pieces, talking ornaments for Hallmark… the list goes on.

He’s Yoda, Admiral Ackbar, Admiral Yularen and other characters for The Last JediRogue One, The Force Awakens and Solo. His characters also star in Clone Wars, Rebels, and LEGO Movies and TV Series, The Avengers, Archer, Family Guy, The Powerpuff Girls, Wolverine and the X-Men, Scooby Doo, Shrek, Robot Chicken, Kim Possible, Foster’s Home, Iron Man, The Wild Thornberrys, and dozens of other animated series. Tom is in almost all the Star Wars and Call of Duty games, plus FortniteStar Trek, Final Fantasy, X-Men, Batman, Avengers, Lord of the Rings, and many more.
