Pearl Harbor | DISNEY THIS DAY | May 21, 2001

On this day in 2001, the movie premiere for Touchstone’s ‘Pearl Harbor’ was held in Hawaii near the site of the 1941 attack. The flight deck of the naval aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis was transformed into an outdoor movie theater for the night. In addition to the cast and crew, the 2,000 invited guests included military personnel and veterans. The $5 million event concluded with fireworks, an F-15 flyover in the “missing man” formation, and Taps played by a Pearl Harbor survivor. [25 years ago in 2026]
