On this day in 1941, the Donald Duck short ‘A Good Time for a Dime’ debuted in theaters. Donald visits a penny arcade where he starts watching a Mutoscope film of Daisy performing the Dance of the Seven Veils, but the power goes out. He tries his hand at a claw machine, but a mistimed sneeze foils his victory. He fights with a coin-operated airplane ride and nearly comes to grief when it takes off. Frustrated, Donald leaves the arcade, realizing that money can’t buy happiness. [85 years ago in 2026]
