Kermit the Frog - The Muppet Show

It’s Not Easy Being Green, Let’s Not Make it Harder

In The Muppet Movie, Kermit the Frog says, “Well, I have a dream too, but it’s about singing and dancing and making people happy. It’s the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with. And I found a whole group of friends who have the same dream, and that kind of makes us like a family.” I think this statement really sums up The Muppets. At its core, The Muppets is about a very diverse group of people who are focused on making other people happy. There are ups and downs through this, which sometimes lead to hilarity, but it does remain the focal point of what The Muppets are about.

On February 4, 2026, there will be a new version of The Muppet Show arriving on Disney+ and ABC. When it does arrive, it will hopefully introduce a whole new generation to The Muppets. If it is successful, these new fans will end up loving The Muppets as much as those who have loved them for months, years, decades, you pick your length of time. Hopefully, these fans, new and old, will also recognize that The Muppets are about making people happy and celebrating their differences.

Recently, it seems that some members of The Muppets community have forgotten this. The Muppets are supposed to be a positive thing. The Muppets are supposed to be abuilt building people up. The Muppets are about making the world a better place. They are not about putting people down, being overly critical, or disparaging others because of how they approach a job.

Daps Magic exists to be a place that celebrates Disney and positive stuff. The Muppets fit within the scope of this definition. We also believe that the community that Jim Henson started is a positive one. We believe that he would want the community surrounding The Muppets today to build each other up, be able to disagree without being disagreeable, and also treat each other with dignity and respect. Certain member(s) of the community have not done that. That is deeply disappointing.

As fans, we should hope that what we are fans of will succeed. We should have open minds and open hearts to the opinions and feelings of others in the community. We do not have to agree. We do need to be kind, however. With this in mind, we would like to offer our support to ToughPigs.com. This is a fan site that celebrates The Muppets and understands what they are about. In fact, they get it more than we ever will. They are some of the best of the best, and we believe they have well-intentioned hearts. We encourage you to follow them, support them, and build them up. We also encourage you to continue to do that with others in Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, and Muppet communities who act as beacons of positivity.

The world is a hard place to be. Outlets like Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, and The Muppets provide positive escapes from everything that is going on. That positivity is very important. Without positivity, it is very hard to have hope. Without hope, it’s hard to make progress on anything. Without all of these things, it becomes very difficult to make the world a better place.

We recognize that what we focus on will grow. When it comes to building a fan community and a legacy, build on the positives. Don’t focus on the negatives. Help cultivate and grow these communities, not criticize and destroy. We hope this is the direction that will be taken moving forward by all members of The Muppet community. We also hope that the release of The Muppet Show special event on February 4th will lead to a new golden era for these beloved characters and franchise.

Kermit the Frog has famously said and sung, “It’s not easy being green.” That seems truer than ever this week. Knowing that things aren’t easy, let’s be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

Keep Kind. Share Magic.

Mr. Daps
