On this day in 2005, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ was released in the United States. It was based on the children’s book of the same name by C. S. Lewis. Four siblings, Peter, Susan, Lucy, and Edmund, discover that a magical wardrobe is a portal into the world of Narnia. There, they align with the divine lion Aslan against the White Witch. The film won an Academy Award for Best Makeup and was Disney’s largest worldwide opening at the time. [20 years ago in 2025]
