CHOC Walk in the Park is coming up! On August 3, 2025, thousands of supporters (including Team Daps Magic!) of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County will line up on Main Street, USA, before the sun rises to walk through the Disneyland Resort. This walk gives supporters the chance to see the parks before they open, along with the plethora of magical moments that have been placed along the route by Disney and other partners.
A Special Evening with a Special Ambassador
On the evening of April 30, 2025, a special kick-off event was held on a lovely lawn at The Anaheim Hotel. The evening was full of important details for the event (they’ll be found below), and the opportunity to take pictures with Choco, get a signed poster from artist Jeff Granito, along with food and beverages. These weren’t the most important things, however. What really mattered was the incredible reminder that the CHOC Walk is so much more than a walk.
During the presentation, this year’s CHOC Walk Ambassador Belle Wuich shared her story. Belle is a cancer survivor who missed out on many of the experiences that a teenager normally would have. Instead of getting to go to school events, she was going through chemotherapy. Throughout this very difficult time, Belle shared how both CHOC and Disneyland provided light in what was a very difficult time in her life. Before chemotherapy sessions, she would go to Disneyland and get a healthy dose of Disney magic. Throughout the time she was getting chemotherapy, CHOC held special events like Halloween and holiday parties. The team at CHOC supported Belle and her family and provided hope and joy that was so desperately needed.
Today, Belle is now the CHOC Walk Ambassador and is VERY passionate about CHOC, the CHOC Walk, and Disneyland. These are things that have helped her not just survive her cancer journey, but thrive. Belle’s story is one of many stories that happen at CHOC. These are stories of children who are facing terrifying and potentially hopeless situations. These are families who feel overwhelmed and deflated. The team at CHOC comes alongside these young patients and their families to not just provide medical care, but also care for their hearts and souls.
Why We Walk
When we walk through the parks on August 3, 2025 (Join Team Daps Magic here!), we aren’t just going for a magical stroll. We are participating in a movement that says we care. We are showing our support for kids like Belle, who are facing experiences no kid should ever have to face. We are helping patients and families get more than just medical care, they get love and support from doctors, nurses, support staff, and the community at CHOC. When we walk as a part of the CHOC Walk, we are part of a community that makes the world a better one step at a time and one dollar raised at a time.
The world can be a very challenging and scary place to be. When we come together ot make it better in a community of people who care, we can be a part of the solution in a very powerful way. This year, please consider walking in the CHOC Walk and stepping out and showing that we, as a Disney community, want to be one that takes care of kids who are sick and their families. Few causes are more noble than taking care of sick children. Few organizations take this cause more seriously and are kinder than the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Let’s be a part of that cause. Let’s make a positive difference. Let’s walk in the CHOC Walk.
