On this day in 2000, the Countdown to Extinction attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom was renamed to DINOSAUR. The new name tied in with the recent animated film of the same name. In addition to the name change, the attraction also received a new Iguanodon figure outside the show building, meant to represent Aladar from the movie. The mission and dialogue of the ride were updated, and the vehicles’ motions were relaxed to be more family-friendly. [25 years ago in 2025]
