On this day in 1960, Disney’s ‘People & Places’ live-action short “The Danube” was released in CinemaScope. The documentary gave a look into the history and geography of the area surrounding the Danube River in Europe, including insight into the people who live and work near its banks. “The Danube” was the seventeenth and final installment in the series that began in 1953. Other short films highlighted the Alaskan Eskimos, Samoa, Japan, and Disneyland. [65 years ago in 2025]
