On this day in 1955 on ABC-TV, Disneyland aired “Man in Space,” the first of a 3-part series about space travel. The Disney “science factual” series will be very influential in drumming up support in the U.S. for a manned space project. The next day, U.S. President Eisenhower called Walt Disney to tell him how good the Man in Space film was, and to ask for a copy of it to show the generals in the Pentagon. [70 years ago in 2025]
