Harrison Ford Drops Out of Oscar Presenter Role

Harrison Ford was supposed to be presenting at the Oscars tonight. However, the Disney Legend has had to drop out after contracting shingles. The actor who brought iconic characters like Han Solo and Indiana Jones to the silver screen was diagnosed on Friday. According to Entertainment Weekly, he is resting and doing ok after the diagnosis.

According to the Mayo Clinic, shingles “is a viral infection that causes a painful rash. Shingles can occur anywhere on your body.” The clinic also notes that “Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus — the same virus that causes chickenpox.”

Just last week, Ford attended the 2025 SAG Awards. During this, a moment between him and Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams went viral after he ate a cracker behind her while she was doing a segment.

Ford can currently be seen in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World. He plays President Thaddeus Ross/Red Hulk.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Harrison Ford would be one of the presenters at the Academy Awards. Other presenters announced include Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Rachel Zegler, and Zoe Saldaña. Multiple other presenters will be seen throughout the night. Conan O’Brien will be the host.

The Oscars will be airing on Hulu and ABC tonight after the official red carpet pre-show that beings at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT.
