The Monorail is currently closed at the Disneyland Resort. A post on the Disneyland website says the following:
The Disneyland Monorail will be temporarily closed for refurbishment beginning January 6, 2025. Please check back for updates.
Along with the Monorail receiving refurbishments, the entrance gates at the Downtown Disney District station are also receiving upgrades with new gates. This allows for quicker and more efficient entry by guests. These new gates are being added to the theme park entrances throughout the resort. They are all scheduled to be completed this year.
While a reopening date has not been publicly announced by Disneyland Resort, the calendar on the Disneyland website indicates that the Monorail will be returning to service on March 7, 2025. This is the same day that the Disneyland Railroad will also be reopening. This has the Monorail reopening well before the beginning of Disneyland Resort’s 70th Celebration on May 16, 2025.
The Monorail allows guests to take a ride on the highway in the sky between Tomorrowland in Disneyland and the Downtown Disney District station on the west end of the district. This is right across from the newly opened Parkside Market. Below is a ride-through video of the Monorail from last fall.

A Ride into History
The Disneyland Monorail was the first transportation system of its kind in America. The current version combines the sleek styling of the 1959 classic with new technologies and subtle design changes, bringing a retro-futuristic look and contemporary feel to the timeless Disneyland icon.
Today, the Disneyland Monorail is comprised of the Red, Blue and Orange Mark VII trains. Because the system uses a 600-volt DC power source, it emits no direct exhaust or pollutants into the atmosphere.
