On this day in 1904, the stage play ‘Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up’ by J.M. Barrie debuted at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London. It would be the first time the Peter Pan story was presented to the public. The play was a huge success and ran for 145 performances. Afterward, the production traveled to Broadway in New York in 1905. Barrie’s novelization of the story would not be published until 1911 under the title ‘Peter and Wendy.’ [120 years ago in 2024]
