Walt Disney World Resort Provides Operation Updates After Passing of Hurricane Milton

The parks, resorts, and other activities continue to be closed today at Walt Disney World Resort. This comes after Hurricane Milton ravaged Florida overnight. For those who are still at Walt Disney World, Disney is offering some options for what can be done today. They are also beginning to provide specifics regarding the return to the parks.

First off, for guests staying at one of the Disney Resort hotels there are offerings to be experienced throughout the day. Some of the dining locations are open. Some of the Disney Resort hotels are also offering the following experiences:

  • Free Disney movies in Resort hotel rooms
  • Surprise Character visits in the lobby, activities, and more family fun
  • Free play in the arcades starting at 4:00 PM
  • The fitness center will be open during normal operating hours

The lobby at a Disney Resort hotel really is where most of the magic will be happening today. After Hurricane Ian, two years ago, Disney characters could be seen making surprise visits to the lobby. There were also some other fun activities led by cast members during this time. While it was less than an ideal Disney vacation, Disney really does a fantastic job of making the best out of the situation.

The Parks & Experiences

The Disney parks, Disney Springs, mini-golf courses, and water park still remain close today. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is also cancelled for tonight. Guests will be refunded the ticket price if they had been expecting to attend.

For guests who had multi-day tickets and expected to be in the parks today, those partially-used tickets have been extended to tomorrow to make up for missing today. Multi-day tickets that have not been used because of Hurricane Milton can be adjusted to a new start date.

Walt Disney World Transportation and Minnie Van service are both temporarily unavailable.

Continued Closures

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will continue to remain closed. At this point, Disney is hoping they will be reopening on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Reservations

For guests with reservations for dining or other experiences, cancellation policies will not be enforced currently. Prepaid bookable experiences will be refunded automatically within 7 to 10 days.
