Tropical Storm Milton, Potentially a Hurricane, Heading Toward Walt Disney World Area

Tropical Storm Milton is churning its way through the Gulf of Mexico. Currently it is projected to hit Florida somewhere sometime next week. It is quite possible that it will be Hurricane Milton when it makes landfall. It also is quite possible that it will impact the Walt Disney World Resort and surrounding areas when it arrives.

At this point, the National Hurricane Center is predicting that the storm will be a threat to Walt Disney World Resort by the middle of next week. It is expected that early next week the storm will gain speed and move either faster eastward or northeastward across the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico. It is also expected to gain strength as this happens.

If all goes as predicted, a Hurricane Milton could hit Florida’s Gulf Coast as a Category 3 major hurricane. This would like impact the area around Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida. The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a flood watch for all of Central Florida ahead of the storm’s arrival. There will also most likely be heavy rain, winds, and potentially tornados as well.

The arrival of Milton comes just weeks after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on southeastern states after slamming into the Big Bend region of Florida as a Category 4 hurricane. Many residents in Florida and the surrounding states are still recovering from Helene. It also impacted the surrounding states with catastrophic flooding, winds, and other byproducts of the storm.
