On this day in 1994, the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage attraction closed “temporarily” at Walt Disney World. Unfortunately, the closure became permanent two years later. The attraction featured 14 submarine ride vehicles that could seat up to 38 passengers for a 20-minute ride around a colorful lagoon. Two of these submarines began a second life when they were sunk in the snorkeling lagoon at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. [30 years ago in 2024]
