On Saturday, August 10, 2024, it was announced that Critter Country will be renamed Bayou Country. This came during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase during a song and dance number that had Darren Criss and Skyler Astin sharing a laundry list of announcements. This song announced the opening date of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as November 15, 2024. It also revealed that Critter Country was being renamed to Bayou Country.
By the following week, the spiel aboard the Mark Twain referenced Bayou Country. Daps Magic team member Steven went for a cruise aboard the Mark Twain and captured the following update to the spiel.
Along with Critter Country becoming Bayou Country, there are other changes in the area as well. On Monday, the walkway between Haunted Mansion and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reopened with new pavement for guests to walk through. It also revealed a new sign for the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.
There were many other announcements made during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase that included new attractions, new ships for the Disney Cruise Line, and even new lands in the Disney Parks! The full showcase can be seen here:
