Deadpool & Wolverine continues to show its strength at the box office. During the course of its second weekend, the movie brought in $97 million, the 8th best second weekend ever! As of Sunday, the film has brought in $395.5 million at the domestic box office. This makes it the most successful R-rated film of all time domestically. It has surpassed Passion of the Christ and its $370.7 million and also both of the two previous Deadpool films. Deadpool brought in $363 million and Deadpool 2 made $324.6 million at the domestic box office.
Global Box Office
The film is also taking the global box office by storm. Currently, overseas it has brought in $110.5 million for a foreign tally of $428.5 million. When added with the domestic tally, the global total is $824.1 million. This sets the film on a solid track to surpass the $1 billion mark.
As Deadpool & Wolverine continues to gain ground at the box office, it has more records that it looks like it will overcome. While it already is the most successful R-rated film domestically, within a week or two it should also become the most successful R-rated film internationally as well. Currently, it is in the 3rd slot behind Todd Phillips’ Joke with its $1.064 billion in the first slot and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer in second spot with $975.2 million.
A Solid Summer
This summer is looking very good for The Walt Disney Company. Already this summer Inside Out 2 has earned $1.56 billion and become the top animated film of all time. Couple that, the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, and other box office releases, Disney has become the first studio of the year to surpass $3 billion at the global box office.
