The Disney Cruise Line is sharing new details about the Disney Destiny. This new ship is the third wish-class trip to join the fleet and will focus on the stories of the heroes and villains from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel. The ship is set to begin to take guests on adventures in December 2025. The ship’s home port when it begins its inaugural cruise season will be Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
“For the Disney Destiny, we will introduce brand-new cruise experiences inspired by the legends and legacies of some of Disney’s most iconic heroes and villains,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “From the dining rooms to the staterooms and everywhere in between, guests aboard our new ship will be surrounded by extraordinary storytelling paired with the signature service and family-fun adventures that are hallmarks of a Disney Cruise vacation.”
The Disney Destiny will bring to life the duality of Disney stories. Great Disney stories see forces of light and dark drive opposing characters to rise to their destinies. When guests board the Disney Destiny, they will be find a wide range of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters have inspired a variety of themed venues and entertainment offerings aboard the ship. One of these entertainment offerings will be a first-of-its-kind dining experience that is inspired by the incredible music of The Lion King. There will also be a confectionary themed to The Incredibles. Even the staterooms and concierge accommodations will be hero-worthy.
There will be more information coming out about the Disney Destiny in the coming days. However, today some details about this ship have been revealed. This includes dining offerings, a sweet shop, and accommodations. Below is a look at some of the offerings on this Disney Cruise Line ship.
Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King
Fans of The Lion King will be excited to learn that Disney Destiny. Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King will bring iconic songs and legendary moments of The Lion King to life in a first-of-its-kind dining experience. This experience will celebrate the iconic music and story that was brought to life by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1994 and continues to delight fans decades later.
When adventurers enter the venue for Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, they will discover a venue that is inspired by the savannah. Throughout the area, there will be unique depictions of animals and nature that will be brought to life through both lighting and special effects. A window-lined back wall will also transform from stunning sunrises to enchanting sunsets during the course of the meal.
During the meal, the venue will come to life with live musicians and storytellers who take the stage at the center of the restaurant. There will be tiered risers to evoke African drums. The performers will present a musical journey that brings to life the award-winning soundtrack as guests get taken on a musical journey at different points throughout the meal. This will utilize African instruments and theatrical props to represent the story and characters.
The theatrical dining experience will include the performances of songs like Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata. There will also be a mash-up of I Just Can’t Wait to Be King and Be Prepared. This promises to be a “fun take that highlights the hero-villain dynamic of the story.” Diners will also experience an instrumental performance of Can You Feel the Love Tonight that is accompanied by an interpretive dance. An added bonus to the dining experience will be the song, He Lives in You. This song was from the sequel film and also the Broadway show.
Edna Á La Mode Sweets
A highlight aboard many Disney Cruise Line ships is the sweets shop. On the Disney Destiny, this dessert spot will be themed to Edna Mode and serve handmade gelato, ice cream, cookies, candies, and specialty treats that will be served in a space full of bolts of fabric and costume models. This all is a part of the theme of the shop, or rather, her lab. This is where the famed fashion designer from Pixar’s The Incredibles films creates outfits for the world’s most famous Supers. For the Disney Destiny, this location will be transformed into a unique confectionary as Edna Á La Mode Sweets.
The venue is inspired by the Auntie Edna short film. Edna’s sewing equipment will be repurposed into sweet-making devices. Disney shares that the result will be “shall we say… marvelous?!”
The shop will also have some fun picture-perfect sculptures of both Edna and Jack-Jack. Unsurprisingly, one is hard at work. The other is hungry for “num nums!”
Two Heroic Cafés
There will be two casual cafés found just off of the Grand Hall (central hub and gathering space on the Disney Destiny) for guests to refuel for their next adventure with coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and snacks.
Café Megara
On one side guests will find Café Megara, a space that honors the legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic film Hercules. This location promises to have a “Greco disco” design. This promises to be a vibrant space. It will be filled with lightning bolts (thanks Zeus) and clouds of Mount Olympus. There will also appropriately be vases found at the café that feature the muses. On top (quite literally) of that, there will be nods to Pegasus and waves on the ceiling.
Café Merida
There will also be Café Merida, inspired by the heroine of Pixar Animation Studios’ film Brave. It will have a Celtic-centered design. This is meant to invoke Merida’s family’s Scottish Highlands heritage. This will mean that there will be a tapestry hung from a mounted bow (presumably with some story elements in the design). Above the bar, glowing lights will pay tribute to the will-o’-the-wisps. These are the ethereal blue flames that lead travelers to their destiny.
Heroic Accommodations
Staterooms
Accommodations aboard the Disney Destiny will be both the setting to kick off an adventure while also being luxurious. The accommodations will continue the storytelling focus on the duality found in every great story. When guests arrive in their staterooms, they will be receiving a hero’s welcome. Each stateroom will include custom artwork that depicts the epic journeys of famous Disney legends. The Disney Cruise Line hopes that this will evoke a sense of awe and inspiration when families come back to relax and recharge ahead of their next adventure.
The Disney Destiny will offer spacious, comfortable, and functional staterooms that are designed to meet the needs of families, just like the other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Most of the staterooms will feature Disney Cruise Line’s signature split-bathroom concept. Many will also offer the option of a connection door to connect staterooms for larger groups.
Concierge
For concierge guests on board this new ship, there will be a premium level of dedicated service and access to exclusive areas and amenities throughout their voyage. This will include a concierge lounge and a private sun deck.
Concierge staterooms and suites aboard the Disney Destiny will be large and lavish in an effort to draw guests into the world of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Fantasia. Throughout these staterooms and suites, there will be “elegant, watercolor-style artwork illustrating the rich color palette, otherworldly spectacle, and dynamic duality of the classic film.” Those travelers who want to “keep moving forward,” will want to check out the seven special ocean-view rooms. These are located directly above the bridge. They will be themed to Pixar’s The Incredibles and promise to offer awe-inspiring floor-to-ceiling views.
There will also be four royal suites found aboard the ship as well. These promises to be suites of heroic proportions where “guests will be empowered by epic stories to embrace their own destinies.” These will be themed to Disney’s animated film, Hercules. Appropriately called the Hero Suites, they will celebrate the majestic power and noble heroism that is central to this film’s story. The suites will be inspired by Greco-Roman architecture, colors, and patterns. There will also be suites that will be appropriately enough called the IncrediSuites that celebrate the adventures of The Incredibles. These promise to be boldly themed and have a mid-century modern aesthetic that is inspired by the Pixar franchise.
An Incredible Ship
The Disney Destiny is destined to quite literally be an incredible ship, and not just because of some of the theming of The Incredibles found aboard it. The ship will be approximately 144,000 gross tons. Yes, that’s a lot. It will also be powered by liquefied natural gas. This has become the norm for the Disney Cruise Line as they work to mitigate their environmental impact and help protect the world we live in. The ship will be just one new ship in a multi-year expansion that is underway for the Disney Cruise Line fleet. This started with the Disney Wish, which launched in 2022. Later this year, the Disney Treasure will be joining the fleet as well. Next year, the Disney Adventure will be joining the fleet. It will have its homeport in Singapore. These ships will be joined by a new Wish-class ship that will be based in Japan and arrive in 2029. This comes from a new agreement between Disney and the Oriental Land Co. Ltd. The Disney Cruise Line also recently began welcoming adventurers to its new island destiny in The Bahamas called Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
