On this day in 1999, the live-action ‘Inspector Gadget’ film was released. Starring Matthew Broderick, Rupert Everett, and Joely Fisher, the film was loosely based on the animated ‘Inspector Gadget’ series from the 1980s. John Brown, a bumbling but well-meaning security guard, becomes Inspector Gadget after being injured in an explosion.
