A new single has been released ahead of the arrival of A Whole New Sound, a new album of reimagined hit Disney songs by Simple Plan. The single has the multi-platinum band performing Can You Feel The Love Tonight? from The Lion King. This happens to also be the 30th anniversary year of the hit film from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The pop-funk cover is now available on music streaming services along with YouTube.
“We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic,” Simple Plan said of reimagining the 1994 song. “We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”
The concept behind the album is that Mickey Mouse has quite the collection of records. This collection inspired him to make a new album that would be for fans of all ages. Mickey and his pals brought together their favorite alternative, rock, and pop-punk bands to reimagine popular Disney songs for A Whole New Sound. The full album and vinyl will be coming later this year!
Along with releasing the album, the artwork for the album was also revealed. It shows Mickey & Friends featuring a new look.
Mickey has a long running impact on the music world. His debut appearance marked the first time that animation featured synchronized sound. His on-screen appearance ever since have been accompanied by popular music from across multiple genres.
Simple Plan will also be performing their rendition of Can You Feel The Love Tonight? on August 9, 2024 on the stage at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. This will be one of many special offerings for Disney fans during the course of this event for Disney fans.
“We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids, so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album,” Simple Plan said.
