On this day in 1946, Muppet performer, voice actor, and puppet builder Dave Goelz was born. Goelz first started working with Henson Associates in 1973 as a part-time puppet builder. He went on to become one of the lead Muppet performers. Goelz is the only original cast member from ‘The Muppet Show’ that still performs with the group today. He brings to life Gonzo, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Zoot, Figment, and Waldorf, who he took over from Jim Henson.
