The sequel to Freaky Friday has gone into production. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are joining together once again for this film. Disney shared a look at Lohan and Curtis outside of their trailers as production begins on Freaky Friday 2.
At this point, there are no plot details for Freaky Friday 2. However, anyone who has watched the first one probably has somewhat of an idea of what will happen. An exact release date hasn’t been announced at this point. It is just known that the film will be arriving in theaters in 2025. There had been rumors that it would be headed straight to Disney+ but those are not accurate.
Lohan and Curtis aren’t the only cast members who are returning for this film. Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao all will be making their return. They will be joined by new cast members Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons. Nisha Ganatra is directing the film.
Freaky Friday 2 has been teased by both Curtis and Lohan for much of 2023. However, it wasn’t until earlier this year that it was confirmed that the film was really being made. Talk about a potential sequel to Freak Friday first came after Jamie Lee Curtis brought it up on The View in October 2022. At the time, she said that she had personally written to Disney saying she wanted to make the sequel. Now, it is happening. The producer for the original Andrew Gunn and so is former Disney exec Kristin Burr.
