Disney’s Animal Kingdom to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of ‘The Lion King’

Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom this summer are sure to have a “roaring” good time. Today it was announced that Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Lion King this summer. This comes as Walt Disney World Resort makes announcements about what different offerings will be happening throughout its different parks and also Disney Springs. EPCOT will be celebrating the completion of its transformation and the end of the land of walls with a new sing-along stage show at CommuniCore Plaza stage with the music of Encanto. Disney Springs will be offering a new drone show that promises to light up the nights this summer. Over at Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be opening and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have added Joy as the beloved character from Pixar’s Inside-Out arrives.

From June 10th through September 6th, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be celebrating 30 years since the world was introduced by Rafiki to Simba during the opening scene of The Lion King. This movie became an immediate hit that was loved by fans then and is still loved by fans today. To celebrate three decades, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be offering a new line of merchandise that will be perfect to wear when stopping by to see Festival of The Lion King.

There will also be some food offered at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that is themed to The Lion King this summer. There will be a full menu shared at a later date but today a new popcorn bucket that looks like Pumbaa was shared.

While at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, there will also be opportunities to learn how to draw characters from The Lion King at the Animation Experience.
