‘Moana 2’ Sees Auli’i Cravalho Return to Title Role

Later this year, movie-goers will be able to see the next chapter in the story of Moana when the second film in the franchise is released into theaters. When they do, they will be again hearing the voice of Auli’i Cravalho as Moana. The movie was announced last month to the surprise of many Disney fans who thought it would be a Disney+ series. However, Bob Iger explained that it deserved to be a movie and also be shown on the silver screen. When the movie was announced, the cast was not.

Auli’i Cravalho took to social media and broke the news that she is returning to voice Moana in this second film, however. In a post on Instagram, she said “We’re sailing WAY beyond the reef this November… ❤️🌀🐚 #Moana2” The post can be seen here:

Moana 2 Description

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana 2 takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.

The songs for this film will not be written Lin-Manuel Miranda. Instead, the soundtrack will be written by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear along with original original composers with Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’. Barlow and Bear won a grammy for their Unofficial Bridgerton Musical. While Auli’i Cravalho will be Moana again in this film, she will not be taking on the role in the live-action version of the story.

Moana 2 will be cruising into theaters on November 27, 2024. What do you think of Auli’i Cravalho returning to voice Moana? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
