An Original Indiana Jones Meets the Original at U.S. Premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”

Legends come in many different forms. It would be hard to argue that Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is not a legend. However, one might overlook some of the people that continued this legacy of this iconic character in the parks. In particular, the Disney cast members who originated and continue to keep the story alive in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. At the U.S. Premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the cast member who originally brought Indiana Jones to life in this very special show was on hand and was able to meet the man he portrayed. It was the meeting of one legend and another.

Disney cast member Kevin Brassard is that cast member who held this role. He was invited to the premiere of the newest Indiana Jones movie and while there, he met Harrison Ford. Ford stopped by to chat with Brassard and also fellow Disney stunt performer Michele Waitman on the red carpet. While they chatted, Ford learned about the special connection they have with Indiana Jones.

“When I said to him, ‘I’m the man that’s been lucky enough to portray Indiana Jones that you created for the past 34 years,’ he thanked me,” Kevin said in awe.

Kevin career with Disney began at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. He was then selected to be the first Indiana Jones stunt actor and performed in the show’s debut on August 25, 1989 in front of George Lucas.

Decades later, he still is in the show as the “Director” and also as a trainer. He continues to teach newer stunt performers how to bring the role of Indiana Jones in a way that is incredible and safe.

“If I could tell myself starting with this show more than 30 years ago about today, first of all, I’d say strap in, it’s gonna be a wild ride. And you’re gonna love it,” Kevin said.

Michele also has a close connection with the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, which she considers family. Along with bringing Marion Ravenwood to life in the show, her boys are in it! “I have twin boys, who are in the show.” They grew up watching the show and now are a part of the cast.

Both of these iconic Walt Disney World Resort performers shared that attending the premiere for Indaian Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be an unforgettable Disney cast member memory. It was an unexepected memory, at that! Walt Disney World Resort Ambassador Raevon Redding surprised the duo with the invitation to the premiere.

“We so appreciate Disney making this huge dream come true,” Kevin said. “We are so proud to be able to represent the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, and what’s even more important to us is that both of us feel so supported by the rest of the cast—they’re so happy we’re here!”
