Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, and More Join ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Sequel Cast

The sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife just started shooting and as things get going, more of the cast for this film is coming out. Three new actors are reportedly joining the film which is going by the working title of Firehouse. Deadline shared today that Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), James Acaster (Repertoire), and Emily Alyn Lind (Gossip Girl) have joined the lineup for this film that is expected to have Ghostbusters: Afterlife cast members returning as well.

The film takes place in New York, where the iconic firehouse for which the working title references is located. It is being directed by Gil Kenan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Reitman. Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife is still on board also as an executive producer. The two basically swapped roles for this second movie that returned to continue the original storyline from the first two Ghostbusters movies.

The continuation of the Spengler family story that is intertwined with that of the Ghostbusters will see several familiar faces from the previous film. Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, and Mckenna Grace will be returning for this sequel. Grace was actually the first to confirm her return. It isn’t known how many of the other cast members will be returning from the previous film for this one. The premise of this sequel hasn’t been announced yet at this point either.

The sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled to arrive in theaters in December of this year.
