John Williams has sat down to the piano once again to tickle the ivories for an upcoming album. The album is a tribute to famed composer Henry Mancini. The album includes performances by some of Mancini’s past colleagues and also fans. John Williams, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and Arturo Sandoval, recently got together to record some of Mancini’s biggest hits. The Theme from Peter Gunn was re-recorded last October by this iconic group. John Williams played the piano on the original recording in 1958.
CBS Sunday Morning witnessed this historic recording. Check it out here:
John Williams, at 91, continues to create music. He recently scored the soundtrack for The Fablemans. He also wrote the soundtrack for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny that will be released later this year.
