When The Acolyte arrives on Disney+, it will be a much different Star Wars series than ever seen before. In a recent interview, series star Dafne Keen shared that this would be the first “Sith-led” series in the history of the franchise. While Keen couldn’t share a lot, she did note that it would be about how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi.
“I can tease that it’s a prequel,” Keen said. “No, I mean, as you know, it’s set 100 years before the prequel movies, and it’s kind of an explanation of how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi. It’s a Sith-led story, which has never been done before.”
While the Sith have been featured in movies and series before, they haven’t ever been the centerpiece of a series or movie. This will all change with the arrival of The Acolyte. At this point, however, it isn’t known what Sith will be featured in this series. There could be Sith that have been referenced before or completely new characters.
The Acolyte will be a mystery-thriller when it arrives on Disney+. It will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and also the emerging dark-side powers. It will also be set in the final days of the High Republic era. It isn’t known if any of the characters from books covering this era will be showing up or not. In fact, no characters have been revealed at this point. However, the project title indicates that a Sith will be in the beginning stages of training under an experienced Sith Lord. This is most likely not the origin story for Darth Sidious as it should be taking place shortly before his birth. This Disney+ series is being written and also executive produced by Leslye Headland, who also will be the showrunner.
