A Christmas Classic Returns to Disneyland with A Christmas Fantasy Parade

On Friday November 11, 2022 A Christmas Fantasy Parade returned to Disneyland. This parade made its debut at Disneyland in November 1995. Since then, it has become Southern California beloved tradition to see this parade during the holiday season. This parade replaced the Very Merry Christmas Parade. Several of the floats from this parade were reused for A Christmas Fantasy Parade.

When A Christmas Fantasy Parade debuted, it was a little different than what is seen today. In fact, there have been lots of changes through the years. However, the original played out as follows:

  • Opening
  • Santa’s Mail Room
  • Santa’s Toy Factory
  • A Recipe for Gingerbread Treats
  • Greetings from a Winter Wonderland
  • The Candlelight Christmas Ball
  • Twas the Night Before Christmas

Nearly three decades later, the parade now has this order:

  • Opening
  • Santa’s Mail Room
  • Welcome to a Winter Wonderland
  • A Recipe for Gingerbread Treats
  • Candlelight Christmas Ball
  • Santa’s Toyland
  • Santa’s Finale

For the first year, the parade was announced Jack Wagner. Ever since then the parade has had the current voice of Disneyland, Bill Rogers, announcing its arrival. Characters in the parade have changed through the years. For awhile, Max and Goofy shared the Gingerbread House float with Max up on the roof. Now, it is Pluto and Goofy. For several years, there was a section of the parade with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore going sledding as well. Scrooge McDuck, Roger Rabbit, and characters from Lily & Stitch, Aladdin, Mulan, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame have also appeared in the parade through the years.

This year, A Christmas Fantasy Parade is being offered daily at 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Check the times guide before seeing the parade as times can change, particularly on the weekend of the Candlelight Processional. Due to its popularity, prepare to arrive early to get a seat. For the opening day, the Daps Magic team was able to get a spot underneath the Christmas Tree in Town Square to film the first parade of the season. Check out the video of the parade here:
