Fraggles are going to be in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, well at least one of them will be! Apple TV+ announced that there is a new partnership between Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock and also the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This collaboration will have Uncle “Travelling” Matt appearing in a video series that will be arriving on Apple TV+ and Macy’s social media throughout the week leading up to Thanksgiving. This will culminate with live broadcasts on NBC featuring Uncle “Traveling” Matt on Thanksgiving Day.
Throughout the video series, Uncle “Travelling” Matt will be seeking out answers to the age-old questions about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day celebration. Asked about the upcoming adventure to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Uncle “Travelling” Matt replied, “Here at Fraggle Rock, we’re celebrating our favorite holiday, Night of the Lights. As an explorer, I’m excited to learn about the Silly Creature’s holiday known as ‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day.’ I’m on my way there now. Well, not right now because I’m talking to you. Anyway, nobody’s better prepared to ask the unknowable questions like, ‘What’s a parade?’”
A first video has already been released setting off this grand adventure by Uncle “Travelling” Matt. It can be seen here:
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC and stream on Peacock on Thanksgiving morning from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Uncle “Travelling” Matt’s adventure will be found on social media at @AppleTVPlus and @Macys or #MacysParade.
This won’t be the only Fraggle programming arriving this holiday season. Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock Night of the Lights holiday special will be arriving on Apple TV+ on November 18, 2022.
“Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock” Night of the Lights Holiday Special Official Description
It’s the Night of the Lights, the most Fraggily holiday of the year, and the Rock is filled with songs and cheer. When Jamdolin (voiced by Emmy Award nominee Daveed Diggs, “Hamilton”) encourages Wembley to make a special wish, the Fraggle head out on an adventure to find the brightest light and, maybe, the true meaning of the holiday. Jim Henson’s fun-loving and musical Fraggles — Gobo, Red, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and new Fraggle friends — have returned for all new adventures about the magic that happens when we celebrate and care for our interconnected world. From The Jim Henson Company, the series is executive produced by Lisa Henson, Halle Stanford, John Tartaglia, Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson; Dave Goelz and Karen Prell co-executive produce; Harvey Mason Jr. is the executive music producer. The special is produced by Ritamarie Peruggi.
