Porto’s Bakery & Cafe will soon be joining other dining establishments in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. Known for its pastries and desserts along with California-Cuban-inspired dishes, Porto’s is a Southern California classic. The announcement about the new Downtown Disney District was made during the D23 Expo’s parks and resorts panel by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro, who also is apparently a fan of Porto’s.
The addition of Porto’s to the Downtown Disney District comes as the West end of the district is undergoing a transformation. The building that previously held an AMC Theater, Earl of Sandwich, and other businesses in it has been leveled to make way for a new yard with a stage along with other businesses around the outside of it.
There will be other additions coming to Downtown Disney District as well. This includes Din Tai Fung, a world-renowned Asian restaurant that originated in Taiwan and specializes in soup dumplings. Concept art has been shared for this dining location as well.
A timeline for the opening of Porto’s Bakery & Cafe, the new stage/entertainment area in Downtown Disney District, or Din Tai Fung was not announced at the D23 Expo. Recent trips aboard the Monorail have revealed, however, that progress is again being made on the area in Downtown Disney District after what appeared to be a pause for a while.
