On Thursday, July 28, 2022, Jiggs Whigham led the Disneyland Resort 2022 All-American College Band for a very special jazz set at the Hollywood Backlot Stage at Disney California Adventure. The world-renown trombonist traveled from Europe to be with the band. The set was the culmination of Jiggs Whigham working with the band as a guest clinician.
During the performance, Whigham made jokes with the audience and also the band. There was also a bit of a charming history lesson as Whigham shared his experiences through the years. The set included:
- When You Wish Upon a Star (Opener)
- Open the Box
- Walking TipToe
- My Old Flame
- Cape Calypso
Whigham has been leading clinicians for the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band for over thirty years. He currently is the soloist and clinician worldwide, and conductor of the BBC Big Band in Great Britain. Whigham is also the artistic director of the Berlin Jazz Orchestra and visiting tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. He is also the musical director of the LaJJOB (Brandenburger Youth Jazz Orchestra) and artistic director of the BUJAZZO (german jazz orchestra). Jiggs Whigham is active as a soloist, conductor, composer, author, and educator.
