Hong Kong Disneyland Reopens After Extended Closure

Hong Kong Disneyland has reopened after being closed since January due to the continued impacts of the pandemic. The park officially reopened again on April 21, 2022. The festive reopening began with Disney characters, the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassadors, and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s Managing Director, Michael Moriarty, held a special welcome moment for guests entering the park through Main Street, USA. “#TheMagicIsNow! It’s time to reunite and feel the magic once again,” said Moriarty.

The moment included many Disney favorite friends like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip ‘n’ Dale. Snow White and Dopey, along with Alice and the White Rabbit, Disney Princesses including Cinderella, Jasmine, Belle and Tiana, Duffy the Disney Bear, ShellieMay, StellaLou and ‘Olu Mel, as well as Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore were also on hand for the special moment.

“I’m really thrilled about our long-awaited park reopening! It’s a great feeling to once again be working face-to-face with my fellow teammates, and to welcome our guests returning to this magical place!” said Audrey Leung, Guest Relations Host, Park Operations.

During the closure, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort continued to support the community around it. This was done by partnering with local non-profit organizations and supporting 2,000 underserved families during the challenging time. Disney-themed merchandise items and other essential materials, including toys, masks and food, were donated to more than 15,000 individuals. The magical was doubled the magic of previous ticket donations as it gave out a total of 10,000 park admission tickets to seven local nonprofits.

With the reopening of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Shanghai Disney Resort is now the only Disney resort that is still closed due to the pandemic.
