Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to see success at the box office and break records. It has now become the third highest-grossing movie of all time domestically. To do this, it pushed aside Avatar.
On Monday, Spider-Man: No Way Home pushed passed Avatar’s $760.5 million domestic record. No Way Home hit $760.9 million at the domestic box office. The movie has done this since it was released in theaters in December. It is easily the most successful movie at the box office since the pandemic. In fact, it is three times more successful than the next most successful movie Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. This other movie from Marvel Studios garnered $224 million at the box office domestically.
While Spidey has been seeing lots of new records and success at the box office, this might be the end of the line for breaking records. The next record it would need to beat would Avengers: Endgame with its $858 million. This would require Spider-Man to garner over $100 million more at the box office. Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds the top spot with $936 million. At this point, it seems unlikely that Spider-Man: No Way Home will break either of these records. However, only time will tell.
Globally, Spider-Man: No Way Home has garnered $1.8 billion. This puts it as the sixth most successful movie globally of all time. All five movies in front of Spidey have garnered over $2 billion at the box office. With the movie not being shown in China, it would be quite a challenge for it to move further up in the list of most successful global movies.
