Frank Marshall Shares Filming Has Wrapped for “Indiana Jones 5”

The fifth installment in the Indiana Jones series has finished filming. Today producer Frank Marshall shared the news via his Twitter. Director James Mangold helmed this film with Harrison Ford again donning his iconic fedora. Steven Spielberg, who directed the previous Indy movies was a producer for this film.

While not a lot is known about the plot for this film, it has a solid cast. This includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas. The script for the film was written by Mangold along with Jaz and John-Henry Butterworth. He wrote Ford v. Ferrari with them.

The fifth Indiana Jones has been in development for a very long time. The previous movie Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released in 2008. The next installment has been in the works ever since with other stories and scripts being developed for the film. Originally it was expected that Speilberg would direct this film. However, he stepped down in 2020 and passed the torch to Mangold. This seems appropriate as it is expected that this movie will have Harrison Ford passing the torch in the film as well.

Indiana Jones 5 began filming in June 2021. It has gone through some challenges however between obstacles created by the pandemic and also a shoulder injury that Harrison Ford was hit with. Along with production being delayed, the release date was also pushed back a year. Indian Jones 5 will be released on June 30, 2023.
