This morning at Destination D23, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared about a lot of new magic that is coming to the Disney Parks around the globe. This includes a reimagined west end of the Downtown Disney District. Another announcement D’Amaro made was about the expansion of the Disneyland Hotel along with a new rendering of the expansion. This includes a new tower and amenities that will be accompanying it.
While not a lot of details were released, there were a few updates to what is going on with the Disneyland Hotel’s new tower. It will be full of elements that will bring Disney storytelling to life. This will be inspired by characters and stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic films. Outside there will be a newly-designed pool and recreations area. According to this morning’s announcements, there will be a variety of different room types for guests to choose from. As with the rest of the Disneyland Hotel, it will be just steps from the Disneyland Resort parks and Downtown Disney District. According to the concept art, this new expansion should be opening in 2023.
The expansion of the Disneyland Hotel is taking place as the Disneyland Resort looks to expand its magic-making capabilities in Anaheim. There are many proposals for how the Disneyland Resort could be expanded in Anaheim as a part of Disneyland Forward.
