Today Lucasfilm announced an addition to the cast of the upcoming Indiana Jones movie. Phoebe Waller-Bridge has joined Harrison Ford in the fifth installment of the franchise. Waller-Bridge has been seen in Fleabag and Solo: A Star Wars Story. In Solo: A Star Wars Story, she portrayed Lando Calrissian’s droid partner in crime L3-37 aboard the Millennium Falcon.
It was also announced today that John Williams will be returning to score the film. Williams has scored every Indiana Jones movie to date. This continues a legacy that began 40 years ago with the theme to Raiders of the Last Ark. His iconic themes have brought the movies to life just as much as Harrison Ford’s leading role. Williams also scored all 9 movies of the Star Wars Skywalker Saga movies.
“I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers,” said the film’s director James Mangold. “Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”
Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers. Indiana Jones 5 will be arriving in theaters July 29, 2022.
