In Updated Jungle Cruise, Trader Sam Has New Job!

The Jungle Cruise is undergoing updates to scenes in the attraction and the backstories behind the attractions. One of the stories that is getting updated is that of Trader Sam. His new role at the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise may shed some light to some items that have been lost through the years as guests have cruised aboard the Jungle Cruise.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, Alberta Falls, who is the proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd., has asked her “longtime friend” Trader Sam to be in charge of a new Lost & Found location. Of course Trader Sam can’t just pass up an opportunity to make a little extra money. He recognized that the end of every ride should have a gift shop!

Today Disney released a rendering of this new establishment. It includes a lot of inventory that Trader Sam has collected for this new venture. According to the Disney Parks Blog, Trader Sam is out looking for new inventory as guests pass by… and he is lost. While gone, “it’s the animals that get the last laugh!”

With this updated Jungle Cruise, the story and scenes will be interconnected as part of a bigger story. This will just be one of them, presumably one of the last. As has been the case, the Jungle Cruise skippers will continue to take guests on the unique and classic cruise through the jungle as guests know and love.

At this time, it is unknown when Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise will reopen. The Magic Kingdom’s iteration of the attraction will remain open as upgrades happen. Expect the enhanced version of this attraction to debut sometime later this year!
