Tokyo Disneyland’s new expansion areas will be opening on September 28, 2020. The expansion will be offering new experiences in Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and also Toontown. It also marks the largest expansion for the park in its history. Originally, this was to have opened on April 15, 2020. However, because of the global pandemic, this did not happen.
With the expansion, there will be some new experiences for guests to enjoy as well. In Fantasyland, Walt Disney’s Animation Studios’ Beauty and the Beast will be brought to life through the new attraction, the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. There will also be new dining and shopping locations available as well throughout Belle’s Village. Here is a video of the are that was shot when Tokyo Disneyland reopened this summer.
Over in Tomorrowland, a new attraction inspired by Big Hero Six will be arriving in the form of The Happy Ride with Baymax. Guests will get to spin around with Baymax when they board this attraction. It seems similar to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort. There will also be a new popcorn shop called The Big Pop! Below is a video from when Tokyo Disneyland reopened of this area.
Toontown will be offering a new way for guests to meet Disney characters in an experience called Minnie’s Style Studio. This will be a new and magical Disney Character greeting experience. It will also comply with the “Amusement Park and Theme Park New Coronavirus Infection Containment Guidelines.” This is being done to give guests and Cast Members alike a safe environment while at Tokyo Disney Resort.
