The official trailer for Hamilton has been released ahead of its arrival on Disney+ on July 3. The show was filmed live on stage with the original cast at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2016 and was originally planned to come to the big screen. Now, ahead of its arrival on Disney’s streaming service, a trailer has been released. Check it out here:
When it arrives on Disney+, Hamilton will showcase the original Broadway cast in this performance. This includes Tony Award® winners Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Tony Award® nominees Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jonathan Groff as King George; Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton; and Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.
Other members of the cast include Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Hope Easterbrook, Sydney James Harcourt, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Elizabeth Judd, Jon Rua, Austin Smith, Seth Stewart, and Ephraim Sykes.
This version of Hamilton is described as a “leap forward in the art of ‘live capture’” which will take the audience right into the midst of the Broadway show experience. Disney is saying that it will combine the best of live theater, film, and streaming with a resulting cinematic stage performance that will offer an entirely new way to experience Hamilton.
