Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Frozen 2 continued to make records at the box office. Through the course of the five day weekend, the sequel to Frozen 2 garnered a record-breaking $123.7 million. This new record surpassed the previous record-holder that was The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with $109.9 million in 2013 and made it the most successful Thanksgiving weekend film.
This continues records being broken by Frozen 2. It already was the number one global opening for an animated film. The film is also heading towards the $1 billion mark. It has already brought in $287.6 million domestically and globally it has $738.6 million. Once it reaches $1 billion it will become the sixth Disney movie this year to reach that mark.
Disney is nearing $10 billion at the box office this year globally. Add the Fox properties it recently purchased and it is $10.5 billion. These numbers will increase with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 20th.
