The show opened in the Sunset Showcase Theatre, formerly the home of MuppetVision 3D. It also has housed some movie previews and the Frozen Sing-A-Long. Now, it is has become a concert hall where Mickey Mouse and the gang are preparing for Mickey to conduct an orchestral concert. However, as things are about to get started it is recognized that not everything has been set up. Donald Duck is told to set things up and it should be no surprise that things end up going wrong. This sends Donald on a musical adventure that takes him through several Disney scenes. This includes:

  • Be Our Guest – Beauty and the Beast
  • The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – Fantasia
  • Part of Your World – The Little Mermaid
  • I Just Can’t Wait to Be King – The Lion King
  • You Can Fly – Peter Pan
  • A Whole New World – Aladdin

At the end of the show, Mickey comes to save the day and performs the instant concert. Donald ends up flying to the back of the theater and can be seen dangling in a hole in the wall before falling in.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic runs about 12 minutes long and appears to be starting every 15 minutes. The show looks crisp and clean and the accompanying audio is beautiful to listen to. It should be a very welcome addition to the Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure. The layout of the theatre is basically the same as it has always been. It appears that there might be some upgrades to the screens. There are also new pillars to make the theatre feel more like a concert hall.
