Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be coming to the Disneyland Resort. The attraction, currently being built at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort, will find its home in Mickey’s Toontown at the Disneyland Resort. The attraction opening is slated for 2022 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Mickey’s Toontown. This will be the first Mickey Mouse-themed ride-through attraction.
The announcement was made this morning on the Disney Parks Blog after being teased by Disneyland Resort President Josh D’Amaro on Instagram earlier in the morning.
The attraction is an adventure with Mickey and Minnie Mouse that begins with guests seeing the premiere of a new short with Mickey and Minnie getting ready for a picnic. Heading out, they find themselves driving next to Goofy who is driving a train. Then, through the power of Disney magic, suddenly guests are aboard engineer Goofy’s train and off on a wacky adventure. This attraction will feature the theme song written for its first incarnation in Florida. It will also be incredibly immersive as the story is told in what Disney describes as 2 ½-D.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be opening Spring 2020 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In three years, it will be arriving at the Disneyland Resort! What do you think of this news? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
