The cast of The Lion King continues to grow as the live-action re-imaging of the movie continues to move forward. Alfre Woodard has now joined the cast as Sarabi, Simba’s mom. The movie, being directed by Jon Favreau, has an all-star cast that includes James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar. Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and John Oliver are also a part of the cast.
In the original version of The Lion King, Madge Sinclair voiced Sarabi. Simba was voiced by Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Matthew Broderick. James Earl Jones originated the voice of Mufasa and Jeremy Irons portrayed Scar.
This new version of The Lion King has a screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson. It is being produced by Favreau and Jeffrey Silver. It is scheduled to be released on July 19, 2019.
