This morning thousands turned out at the Disneyland Resort before the crack of dawn for the 2017 CHOC Walk in the Park. This annual event, usually in October, was moved to August this year. The result was just as magical, if not even more. As the sun came up, the opening ceremony of CHOC Walk began at the top of Main Street, USA in the Hub. As the light grew the hope of what the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) was on display. This year’s CHOC Walk Ambassador Jordin Jackson was on hand to share how CHOC has helped her, thank those who were walking, and share a special moment with Captain America! Jackson deals with Sickle Cell Disease and through the care from CHOC, she is able to live a life that she otherwise wouldn’t be able to live.
This year CHOC Walk was joined by KTLA’s Henry DiCarlo was on hand to help host the morning, along with the Disneyland Ambassadors Mikey Trujillo and Alexa Garcia. Disneyland President and CHOC Board Member Michael Colglazier and CHOC Children’s President and CEO Kimberly Chavalas Cripe thanked and encourage the thousands in attendance. And of course what would CHOC Walk be without Mickey and the gang? As the walk was about to begin, Mickey and friends came to help everyone warm off and then send them into the parks on the walk!
The 27th annual CHOC Walk in the Park was an absolutely enjoyable event. Throughout Disneyland and Disney California Adventure there were Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars characters available for photos. Bands and cheerleaders also energized the walkers as they made their way through the parks. Finally, in Downtown Disney the Disneyland Ambassadors and DJ Wendy greeted the walkers as they crossed the finish line. There were also a plethora of booths and experiences to be had in Downtown Disney once the walk was completed.
CHOC Walk in the Park is a fantastic walk for a fantastic cause. It is a magical event that isn’t just fun, but also makes a difference.
